Does Pandit Raghunath Murmu deserve Bharat Ratna? The Answer is YES.
Sarojini Hembram raised the demand to give the
highest civilian award Bharat Ratna to Guru Gomke Pandit Raghunath Murmu for
his remarkable contribution to the
culture and society of Santali Community. Raghunath Murmu deserves to be
awarded with Bharat Ratna. The whole Santali Community will glad if their Guru
Gomke awarded with the highest civilian award of Republic India.
The Santali language debuted in the Rajya Sabha on
Friday, with BJD Rajya Sabha member Sarojini Hembram speaking for the first
time in Santali Language. She earned praise and appreciation from Vice
President Venkaiah Naidu and RS Harbansha Narayan Singh, Vice Chairman of RS.
Speaking in Santali Language during the zero hour,
Hembram demanded Bharat Ratna for Raghunath Murmu, the inventor of the 'Ol
Chiki' script, which is used to write Santali language.“There are seventy-two
tribal people living in Orissa. The Santali community is one of them. Santali
is our mother tongue and its script 'ol chiki', she said. She also mentioned
that Pandit Raghunath Murmu is considered as an iconic figure in the state of Odisha.
The Santali People worship him by keeping his picture in their houses.
After her completion, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu
said, "I would like to inform you that Santali language is speaking for
the first time on the floor of the Rajya Sabha and also by a female
member."
Members of Parliament thumbed down at the desk in
order to praise Hembram's move. "You would also be happy to know that Santali
language’s interpretation was given by a counselor from Santali Community. Interestingly
the person is not a regular employee of the secretariat, ”the RS chairman said.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner, Harbansha Narayan Singh, presided over the
house.
It's a great day for tribal people who speak in
tribal languages. “Since I have been in the area where the Santali community
has been for a long time, it is a great day for me too, ” Singh said.
Sarojini Hembram is a native of Mayurbhanj district.
Orissa has a population of about eight lakh. This community also lives in
Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal. Raghunath Murmu (1-8282), who was also a
native of Mayurbhanj, discovered the 'ol Chiki' script. He has also written
several books and textbooks in the Santali language. The Odisha government has
named the city Medical College of the district headquarters in Baripada after
his name, Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital.
